How it works

Three steps to get on the BMI Community network. Same pattern as a public library card — proof of identity, an acceptable-use policy, a renewal on a regular cadence.

Step 01

Sign up

Apply online from this page, or stop by 200 Vista Ridge in person. Either way, it takes a few minutes.

Step 02

Verify your ID

Bring a valid photo ID. Residents of Palestine and the surrounding area are eligible. One card per person.

Step 03

Receive your card

You'll get a digital access card you can save to your phone. Connect to the public SSID and authenticate with your card.

Cards renew on a regular cadence — quarterly or annually, to be finalized at launch.

What's included — and what isn't

A clear scope keeps the network healthy and fair for every cardholder.

Included

  • Public access SSID at the BMI facility (200 Vista Ridge, Palestine, TX).
  • Access at partner community sites as the network grows.
  • A filtered, family-safe network suitable for general home and study use.
  • Standard acceptable-use policy, plainly written, signed at signup.
  • Card renewal on a regular cadence to keep our membership list current.

Not Included

  • Not a substitute for primary home internet service.
  • No port forwarding or inbound hosted services.
  • No commercial or business-grade use — this is for residents.
  • No high-bandwidth abuse (sustained torrenting, mining, large-scale streaming farms).
  • BMI may revoke access for AUP violations at our discretion.

Community partners

Churches, community centers, and schools hosting access points will be listed here as the network grows. If your organization wants to host a node, get in touch.

Partner sites coming soon. We're talking to local hosts in Anderson County and welcoming new conversations.

Sponsor the network

Local businesses can sponsor cards for residents who need them, or underwrite a coverage zone or partner site. Your name shown on the network and on this page; recurring goodwill where you live and work.
